Lead Removal

The first thing we need to teach the dog is that lead removal does not mean you can go off and do your own thing.

So the aim is when the lead is removed to the dog remains connected.

Start by removing the lead and just feed the dog 10 treats one after the other for being in the sit and staying with you. Then put the lead back on. It is easy to practice this at home in the house and garden to start off with before you try it outdoors.

Lots of repetition of that exercise the dog learn to not fire off away from you on lead removal. You will also notice I have not asked or told the dog to do anything. This is because the lead removal will eventually trigger a wait.
